Lost Your Ncell SIM? How to Block and Replace Your Ncell Number Quickly (2026 Guide)

It happens to the best of us—a misplaced phone, a pickpocket in a crowded bus, or simply a damaged SIM that stops working. In today’s digital world, your SIM card is more than just a piece of plastic; it’s your gateway to your bank, your eSewa/Khalti, and your private conversations.

If you’ve lost your Ncell SIM, don’t panic. Ncell has a very straightforward "Block and Replace" system. Here is how you can secure your number and get back to your "Sadhain ON" lifestyle immediately.

Step 1: Block Your SIM Card Immediately

The moment you realize your SIM is gone, you must block it to prevent unauthorized calls or misuse of your mobile banking.

How to block your Ncell SIM:

  • Call from another Ncell number: Dial 9005. This is the Ncell Customer Care helpline.

  • Call from any other network: Dial 9809005000 (standard charges apply).

  • What you need to provide: The customer representative will ask for verification details to ensure you are the rightful owner. Have these ready:

    • The mobile number you want to block.

    • Full name of the person the SIM is registered to.

    • The document number (Citizenship, Passport, or License) used during registration.

    • Your date of birth.

Once verified, Ncell will temporarily suspend all outgoing and incoming services on that SIM.

Step 2: Visit an Ncell Centre for Replacement

To get your number back, you cannot do it online or over the phone. You must visit an authorized Ncell Centre or a "Hamro Ncell Pasal" in person for biometric verification.

Documents Required:

  1. Original Identification: Bring the original Citizenship certificate (Nagarikta), Passport, or National ID that was used to buy the SIM.

  2. A Photocopy: Always carry a photocopy of the same document.

  3. Passport-sized Photo: Although many centers now use digital cameras, it is safer to carry one recent photo.

The Process:

  • Ask for a SIM Replacement Form.

  • Fill in your details and state the reason for replacement (e.g., "Lost/Stolen").

  • You will undergo a quick verification (and in some cases, biometric thumb scanning).

  • The Cost: The standard replacement fee in 2026 is Rs. 99.

Step 3: Activating Your New SIM

After you receive your new SIM card, it usually takes 15 minutes to 2 hours to activate. Once the network bars appear:

  • Your old balance and active data packs will remain intact.

  • Note: Your contacts saved on the physical SIM card cannot be recovered. However, if you backed up your contacts to Google or iCloud, they will sync automatically once you log in.

Important Security Tips

  • Report to the Police: If your phone was stolen, it is highly recommended to file a report at the nearest police station or via the Nepal Police Online Portal. This helps if your device is used for illegal activities.

  • IMEI Blocking: You can also block your phone’s IMEI number through the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) website to ensure the thief cannot use the device with any other SIM.

  • Upgrade to eSIM: If your phone supports it, consider upgrading to an eSIM. Since there is no physical card to remove, it adds an extra layer of security.
